Former VIC site to be transformed into local business hub in Loxton

THE former Loxton Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is set to be transformed into a local business hub and office, much to the excitement of its new occupants.
Expressions of interest were sought for the former VIC site earlier this year, and after much anticipation over what would replace the old facility, the District Council of Loxton Waikerie made its decision
last month.
The Loxton Chamber of Commerce has been approved to develop the site into a business hub for those wanting a meeting facility or work space for the short-term, open-plan work stations for regular or part-time use, and private office spaces or other boardroom facilities.
District Council of Loxton Waikerie CEO David Beaton said the new hub is a great venue for those looking to start their business on a smaller scale.
“I think it’s an exciting way for (the Chamber of Commerce) to try and reach out and support businesses from people who want to start up, but don’t want to have a large building.
“They can start up on a smaller scale and then hopefully, they can grow those businesses and expand into the other available shops and business premises that are in the town.”
The Chamber of Commerce will hold a five-year lease with the council for the site, with a review expected after the initial 12-month operating period to assess the ongoing viability of the proposal and to make further recommendations if needed.
The chamber said it is excited for this new chapter in its history and looks forward to establishing a true headquarters for the local business community.
