Defib gives RSL ‘peace of mind’

FUNDING from a Riverland council has enabled a local RSL branch to purchase new medical equipment to provide “peace of mind” for its members.
The Renmark RSL recently purchased a defibrillator and portable medical kit using funding obtained through the Renmark Paringa Council Community Grants Program.
Renmark RSL president Peter Higgs said heart health had become a concern for the branch’s older members.
“For the age group many of our members are in, there is that health risk,” Mr Higgs said.
“We got the portable kit as well, so we can go out and do our social activities and take it in the car with us.
“There’s nothing worse than being on a bus trip to Wentworth Military Museum, you get halfway there and then you have an incident on the bus.”
Renmark Paringa Mayor Neil Martinson said council was proud to “ensure the health and safety of Renmark’s RSL members through the community grants program”.
