COVID spike closes Men’s Shed again

RECENT spikes in COVID-19 cases have seen the SA Government take quick action to stop the spread – which has led to community groups like the Men’s Shed putting a halt on regular meetings.
Waikerie Men’s Shed president Jim Rae said due to restrictions re-imposed by the State Government of no more than 10 people gathering, the committee has closed its doors after reopening in late May.
“It’s very unfortunate that we have to close our regular meetings again, but it’s important to keep in line with the restrictions and not put our members at risk,” he said.
“There’s a stipulation of no more than 10 people in one shed at a time, but we have dozens of members who come to the regular days, so it would be too hard to moderate where everyone is.
“Members will continue checking mail and maintaining the sheds’ upkeep while we are closed, and we will keep in contact with each other until we are able to open the doors for casual meetings again.
“We hope to reopen soon, and will keep everyone notified about our movements.”
