Council and umpires agree on Berri change room compromise

UPGRADES for the change rooms at the Berri Oval will go to tender, after the Berri Barmera Council reached a compromise with Riverland football umpires on a revised design for the umpire’s room.
The new design, endorsed by elected members at the July ordinary council meeting, includes an expanded change room for umpires and a larger footprint under the Berri club rooms, but council is still expecting the project to fit within its $330,000 budget allocation.
The project will be jointly-funded by the council, State Government, Berri football and cricket clubs, and the Berri War Memorial Community Centre.
The upgrades will also improve the player change rooms housed under the grandstand, provide upgraded facilities for female athletes and add accessible toilets.
The scope of the works and the final costs for the project will be confirmed through a select tender process.
