Community group lending Riverland scouts a hand

A LOCAL Scouts group received a helping hand recently as it prepares to resume its weekly meetings.
Members of the Waikerie Men’s Shed installed new signage at the Waikerie Scouts Hall, as well as assisting the Scouts leaders fix “critical” jobs around the hall.
Waikerie Scouts group leader Michael Cox said the new signage was installed in time for the Scouts meeting resuming.
“Scouts will also be introducing the new youth program over the next term and will be operating within COVIS-19 safe guidelines as specified by the government,” he said.
“The Men’s Shed has also been financially generous to the group in the past, and we’re very grateful for their assistance.
“Scouting is about helping young people to be the best they can, developing all facets of life so they can become constructive citizens, and we’re always happy to welcome new faces to the hall.”
The Waikerie Scouts has vacancies in its Joeys (aged five to seven), Cubs (eight to 11) and Scouts (11 to 14) groups.
