Children learn importance of fire safety

TWO local firemen visited the Riverland Early Learning Centre last week to celebrate International Firefighters Day.
Peter Richards and Chris Edmonds brought their firetruck to the childcare centre last Tuesday and taught children the importance of fire safety.
Educational leader and supervisor Cassie Leibhardt said she was grateful for the visit.
“Peter and Chris did a fantastic job engaging with the kids, getting down to their level, and teaching them the dangers of fire and all the ways to keep safe around fires,” she said.
“The children had a great time and spoke about the visit for the rest of the afternoon.
“I had some kids go home and tell their parents that if there’s a fire they must ‘get down low and go go go’.”
Ms Leibhardt described firefighters as “amazing”.
“We are so thankful for the amazing things these brave men and women do…” she said.
“They save lives, buildings and townships by risking their own lives.
“I’m so thankful for the chat Peter and Chris had with the kids today and I’m grateful the kids got to meet them.”
