Brave shavers raise almost $4000

THREE brave hair aficionados took to the shears and shaved their heads clean last week for the World’s Greatest Shave – and one of them has donated her long locks for cancer patients.
Waikerie Lutheran Primary School (WLPS) principal Adam Borgas and year 7 students Jackson and Isabella raised a collective $3939.05 for the World’s Greatest Shave, a figure announced after the three made their shave during a special school assembly on Friday, August 21.
Event organiser and year 7 student Natalie thanked the shavers, and said the annual event “means a lot” to her.
“I’ve organised a World’s Greatest Shave event at school for the last two years – this is the third one we’ve done,” she said.
“I’ve had several relatives affected by cancer, so it means a lot to me that people want to help out either by donating or making the shave.
“I’m so grateful (to and) proud of Mr Borgas, Isabella and Jackson – especially Bella, who is donating her hair and has been growing it out for this.”
First-time shavers Jackson and Isabella each chose to raise money and make the shave as they have had relatives affected by cancer.
Isabella also chose to donate her hair to Variety: Hair with Heart, where it will be made into a wig for cancer patients.
