Bowls Riverland eyes off early restart

BOWLS Riverland expects local competitions to resume late next week, after all seasons were suspended last Monday due to changes to COVID-19 restrictions.
Bowls Riverland president Des Button said State Government announcements on restriction changes would dictate when competitions could restart.
“Right now, we’re allowed to have roll-ups with a maximum of 10 people on a green,” he said.
“I am not expecting any further announcements (on restriction changes) until December 1, and if that is the earliest announcement we get it will be impossible to start a day later on Wednesday, December 2.
“So, I’m anticipating Saturday, December 5 may be the earliest we are able to resume, but that is just anticipating.”
Secretary Jenny Lyons said matches lost due to the suspension would be abandoned.
“Those games that we’ve lost will be treated as though they have been washed out or cancelled due to heat… and we’ll just get on with the program,” she said.
“Everybody is looking forward to getting back onto the green.
“It’s been a very difficult year, but hopefully things will change.”
