Blanchetown CFS ready for summer

A LOCAL fire service crew is welcoming the arrival of a new fire-fighting appliance, bringing the total number of trucks under its service to two.
The Blanchetown Country Fire Service (CFS) has welcomed a new fire truck into its shed, which was delivered by the state CFS team over the weekend.
Blanchetown CFS captain Andrew Mustard said the crew was due for a new upgrade.
“We received the new appliance through the state CFS; as we only have one other appliance and fire danger season is approaching, it was most welcome,” he said.
“It’s the same make as our old appliance, just with more modern capabilities and upgraded fire-fighting equipment.
“Fire danger season is fast approaching and we had a dry winter, so we’re looking prepared for whatever may come out way.”
Mr Mustard said the Blanchetown CFS personnel are called out to an estimated 35 to 40 incidents including car crashes, fire alerts, and SAAS assistance.
“We’re always ready to welcome new volunteers, or potential volunteers, so if you live around Blanchetown and are interested in finding about what CFS is about, please come along to one of our training sessions,” he said.
The Blanchetown CFS crew meets every first and third Monday of the month at 3660 Murraylands Road, Blanchetown, from 5pm.
