Better Life in Waikerie and surrounds

A POPULAR community radio station recently upgraded its transmission signal to improve its sound quality in Waikerie and surrounding areas.
Riverland Life FM is a community Christian radio station broadcasting across the Riverland and Northern Murray Mallee since 2006.
Station manager Heather Saunders said the repeat transmission picks up the main transmission and sends stronger signal to the outlying areas.
“Waikerie and the surrounding areas can get a stronger signal on frequency 88.5, but we’re still broadcasting from our main 100.7 frequency,” she said.
“We’re very pleased to have a stronger signal available in Waikerie and the surrounding area – it’s a region that has been very supportive of us.”
Riverland Life FM plays contemporary music, broadcasts a variety of talk programs, and sends positive Christian messages.
Ms Saunders said the not-for-profit community station relies on its volunteers and sponsors to keep running.
“We play a mix of mainstream music, from pop to country to Christian,” she said.
“We’re the only community station in the Riverland and all of us are volunteers, and as such, we do rely on the community to keep us going, but the Riverland is a great, close-knit community to live, work and broadcast in.
“We have a few chat programs; our main feature programs include a book show, a gardening show, and a kid’s cooking show.
“We’re always on the lookout for more contributors and volunteers, as well as sponsors, and donations are much appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.”
