Basketballers at national titles

THREE Riverland basketballers put on strong showings at the Australian Under-18 Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday.
Loxton’s Bianca Stasinowsky and Tia Dahlitz played for an SA Country women’s side that finished fifth, while Barmera’s Jack Sullivan was selected for the men’s team that finished 13th.
Stasinowksy played a starring role for her team, averaging over 14 points, almost nine rebounds and more than two steals per game, ranking 12th, third and 11th in the competition respectively, while Dahlitz provided her own contributions coming off the bench.
Riverland coach Danny Millard also served as an assistant coach for the women’s team.
Sullivan played significant minutes for the men’s side, averaging six points, almost four rebounds and over two assists over nine games as a starter.
The championships returned in 2021 after Basketball Australia made the decision to cancel all national junior championships in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Australian Under-16 Championships are set to be held in Perth from July 4 to July 11, with Loxton’s Summer Smith and Waikerie’s Sienna Lehmann selected for the girls’ team and Barmera’s Chelsea Wutke chosen as a reserve.
