Ambassador program to return this year

A LOCAL festival will relaunch its popular ambassador program after a break due to Covid-19 last year.
The newly named Riverland Rose and Garden Festival will welcome back the Riverland Ambassador Program for this year’s festival.
The program aims to support young people develop leadership skills while engaging within their community in a way that is meaningful and supported.
It is perfect for emerging young leaders to be engaged and supported in a regional-based leadership program that is community driven.
The Riverland Ambassador program will provide successful participants with a structured, guided, and mentored environment to develop the following skills:
- Communication – public speaking/writing, and engaging the participation of others
- Teamwork – respecting others, performing roles of both leader and follower, building on strengths, and commitment
- Personal Identity – understanding the relationship between oneself and the community, pride in being a member of a larger group, awareness of areas for self-improvement
- Professionalism – delivering quality work, positively presenting oneself to others, working towards common goals with community organisations and local businesses
- Project Management – setting goals/developing action steps, meeting facilitation, reflection, distinguishing between one’s interests and community needs
Prior to Covid-19, the Renmark Rose Festival embarked on an ambassador program with an aim to create generational relevance to the festival while providing an opportunity for young people to expand their skills, fundraise for a charity and be recognised at the Rose Festival Gala dinner.
Covid-19 provided a challenging year, one that provided the Rose Festival Committee a chance in 2020 to re-evaluate the festival and enhance its regional significance.
This year is the first year of the new Riverland Rose and Garden Festival, which aims to capture “the essence of region and gardening, with a new enthusiastic committee committed to creating a showcase regional event”.
The opportunity to join the Ambassador Program is open to all Riverland residents aged 17 to 25, or young people with a Riverland connection, i.e. currently living in region or currently studying or working out of region with a past and future connection.
Ambassadors will be able to engage in a leadership pathway of their choice such as:
- Business mentoring
- Charity/fundraising
- Community engagement/volunteering
This year’s crop of ambassadors will walk away from the program with recognition, leadership skills, network connections and personal growth. To get involved or for more information contact Georgie at georgina@renmarkparinganetwork.com by 5pm Friday, July 9, 2021.
