A rainbow of smiles at Renmark West

LOCAL primary school students were left looking like rainbows recently after participating in a much-loved fundraising event.
Renmark West Primary School participated in the Colour Fun Run, which saw students come dressed to school in white and get squirted in coloured paint as they ran around outside, to raise funds for the school.
Teacher and Colour Fun Run co-organiser Brittany Williams said the school decided to host the event after the success it had at the school two years ago.
“Two years ago, we hosted a Colour Fun Run and the kids absolutely loved it,” she said.
“It was a great way to fundraise and a very simple event to organise as there isn’t much involved in setting it up.
“This year we decided to provide the students and parents with a sausage sizzle lunch and it went really well.
“Kids got a lot of enjoyment out of it and so did the staff and parents.”
Ms Williams said the school exceeded its fundraising goal.
“We had a goal of $6000 and the school managed to raise $7300,” she said.
“Money was raised online and through donations and it’ll all go back to the school.
“We are hoping to jazz up our school toilets by giving them a fresh coat of paint and maybe putting some quotes on it to jazz it up.”
Year 6 student Alex said he enjoyed participating in the event for the second time.
“I remember doing it two years ago and it was so much fun,” he said.
“When I heard we were doing it again I got so excited.
“Running around with my friends and getting squirted with paint it lots of fun, and it was cool we had a barbecue too this year.
“I hope we can do it again next year when I’m in year 7 and other schools should also give it a go because it’s lots of fun.”
