A hand-knitted Anzac Day tribute

THE cancellation of Riverland dawn services this weekend has failed to stop locals from honouring the region’s Anzac Day traditions.
Residents of Renmark’s Arakoola Court created a display of knitted poppy flowers outside of their units to commemorate this Saturday’s Anzac Day.
Resident Sue Jenke, working in partnership with Jenny Coombe, said the display was intended as a tribute to the large dawn service gatherings that would traditionally be held across the Riverland.
“We were inspired by the display last year on the main street,” Mrs
Jenke said.
“Since we can’t attend the service this year, we thought we would try and do something to support the RSL.
“The services have grown over the years. It’s always something we’ve attended and we’ve enjoyed, so this is something we can all do while we’re isolated.”
