A fun and memorable Riverland fundraiser

A MEDICAL charity event designed to give children a fun and memorable social experience suited to their individual needs took place at Renmark’s Chaffey Theatre recently.
The Arthritis Foundation’s Kidsflix fundraiser, which has been running for more than 20 years, was brought to the region on Saturday, May 8.
More than 40 children, along with their parents and/or caregivers, attended the event and Kidsflix co-ordinator Sally Scantlebury said she was grateful for the community’s support.
“The day ran from 9am to 12 noon and started by a greeting by the Renmark MFS, who gave the children a safety demonstration followed by slap bands and colouring books,” she said.
“The children then entered the theatre and in there was a face painter and ‘emerald fairy’, who was a volunteer from the Renmark Girl Guides.
“Once they all entered the theatre they were able to choose from a variety of Nippy’s juice and milk boxes as well as a bag of Jonny’s popcorn.
“The main attraction though was the screening of the new Tom and Jerry movie. The excitement on the children’s faces was amazing.”
Ms Scantlebury said the event was a success.
“We visit the Riverland annually and funds raised for Riverland events average about $5000 a year,” she said.
“The Chaffey Theatre do a great job hosting us and its fantastic that we can bring events like this to the community.”
