1 min read

A RENMARK man will face court next year on careless driving charges relating to the death of a fellow Riverlander in a car accident earlier this week.

Police and emergency services units responded to reports of a crash between a car and a motorbike at the intersection of Sturt Highway and Murtho Road, in Paringa, around 2.45pm on Monday.

A 62-year-old Paringa woman, who was a pillion passenger on the bike, died at the scene, while the rider – a 66-year-old Paringa man – was taken to the Riverland Regional Hospital in a serious condition before being airlifted to the Royal Adelaide.

A 30-year-old Renmark man who was driving the Honda sedan avoided injury.

The Sturt Highway remained closed for several hours while local police and Major Crash Investigators examined the scene

Investigators yesterday arrested the male driver of the Honda sedan and charged him with aggravated careless driving.

It is understood the man was bailed and he will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on March 8.
