Charges over fatal jet ski crash

AN Adelaide man is set to face court following a jet ski accident that saw a teenager lose their life in the Riverland this week.

Emergency services were called to a stretch of the Murray River near Echidna Avenue, at Murbko, around 2.20pm yesterday, after a jet ski collided with two young swimmers.

A 14-year-old Roxby Downs male was pulled unconscious from the water, but lost his life at the scene.

A younger child who was with the 14-year-old received minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 43-year-old Craigmore man, who was riding the jet ski, was charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated causing harm by dangerous driving.

It is understood he was bailed to appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on February 23.

Detectives from Murray Bridge CIB, with the assistance of Marine Safety officers and SAPOL’s Water Operations Unit, are investigating the incident.
