Local quilters oh ‘sew’ generous

MORE than 20 women gathered at Barmera’s Field Days site recently for a fundraiser to aid an Adelaide disability and support organisation.
The Barmera Lake Bonney Quilters, along with other locals, joined forces with Adelaide’s Clayton’s Quilters Guild of SA Inc. to raise funds for Bedford Industries.
Bedford Industries ambassador Faye Packham thanked the Barmera Lake Bonney Quilters for the invitation.
“Twenty-six ladies came along to the workshop and it was just fantastic,” she said.
“How it worked was Bedford provided quilt kits, which were $50 each and all kits had been donated so that was a huge help.
“The ladies were so generous and out of the 26 of them, more than 50 kits were purchased.
“The ladies started their quilts at the workshop and from there they’ll be able to take them home and do what they wish with them.
“The ladies that came from the guild were great too, especially our co-ordinator Lessa Siegele, who was our driving force.”
Barmera Lake Bonney Quilters member Julie Plush invites locals to join the group.
The Lake Bonney Quilters meet every Wednesday at the Field Days site from 9am to 3pm and we’d love to see more people come along,” she said.
“If anyone is interested, please call me on 0438 837 307 for more information.”
