The show must go on

STEPHANIE THOMPSON
AFTER a one-year hiatus, the Loxton Show will return this October, with planning now under way.
The Loxton Show committee met last month to determine the fate of the 2021 event and president Bill Shannon said he was pleased to announce the positive news.
“Due to there not being a show last year, I think there will be a bit of enthusiasm for this year,” he said.
Mr Shannon said the committee felt encouraged following the success of the Loxton Mardi Gras in February.
“We will ask for a bit of advice from them to help us out, and other shows between now and then about how to keep everyone safe,” he said.
The Loxton Show held its 100th event in 2019 and changed its layout of attractions due to the construction of The Precinct Loxton.
Without a show hall, the committee utilised older sheds close to the Loxton number two oval.
“It was quite an interesting set-up,” Mr Shannon said.
“We had wonderful feedback from the public about how they enjoyed the new set-up, so that gave us some encouragement.”
Mr Shannon said the committee has begun discussing how to utilise The Precinct for its 2021 event.
“With the new complex, we have a bit of extra room,” he said.
The committee is currently without a secretary and Mr Shannon urged anyone thinking about getting involved with the Loxton Show to come forward.
“Everyone will manage, but every year we all get that year older,” he said.
