Snapchat warning for local students

A RIVERLAND school is taking a proactive approach to providing “a safe and supportive environment” after students have faced scrutiny for their online activity.

A letter sent by staff at St Francis of Assisi College, Renmark — reported in last Sunday’s edition of The Advertiser — is said to have warned local parents about “some of the images being shared” through a Snapchat group of year 8 boys, which “could be classified as inappropriate and may be used to extort or exploit a young person”.

“Please speak with your child if they are active on Snapchat and other social media applications and, if they are part of large group chats,” the letter is reported to have read.

“Our advice is you instruct your child to exit these groups.”
