Riverlanders mark Reconciliation Week

RIVERLANDERS came together to commemorate National Reconciliation Week last week.

The KWY Aboriginal Corporation Riverland team hosted a community lunch last Friday, with the Berri event bringing locals across the region together to celebrate and commemorate Reconciliation Week, which is held from May 27 to June 3, each year.

With this year’s theme of ‘Bridging Now to Next’ — calling on Australians to step forward together, to look ahead, and continue to push forward — Reconciliation Week is a time to learn about shared histories, cultures, achievements, and explore ways to achieving reconciliation, with the dates commemorating significant milestones for First Nations peoples, including:

  • National Sorry Day, May 26: Remembering and acknowledging the Stolen
