PRESIDENT STANDS: The Nationals' new state president Jeremy Challacombe will stand for the seat of Wakefield in the October 3 Federal Election. The Nationals, the newly merged state branch of the National Party and the United Australia Party, will also field candidates in two other rural SA electorates, Grey and Barker. 25 years MORE NEEDED: Many more Riverland signatures were needed on petitions protesting the wine spirit excise introduced in the federal budget, chief executive of Consolidated Co-operative Wineries, John Pendrigh, said yesterday.
