THE PROPOSAL to give condoms to school children in the hope of reducing teen pregnancies and social diseases will not work.
The experience of recent decades throughout the western world shows that broader availability of contraceptives always leads to more pregnancies and sexually transmissible diseases.
The most effective restriction on promiscuity by young teens is self restraint, primarily through moral inhibition.
Giving condoms to teens inevitably means weakening that restraint.
