Embellished headline
IN REFERENCE to the police report headed 'Teen bashed at fundraiser' in a recent edition of The Murray Pioneer (30/3/10), I would like to express my disappointment in your reporting of the incident.

'Humble' stories can occasionally strike an unexpected chord with readers, for different reasons.
Last month The Murray Pioneer published a little story about locals backing a State Government push to have the Greek language included in the new Australian curriculum for schools.
A letter to the editor subsequently questioned some aspects of the policy, and in turn attracted its own responses, including a contribution today by local man Peter Ppiros, editor of the Greek Tribune.
In his well written, reasoned letter, Mr Ppiros makes a number of good points about immigration. He also says that "no-one is suggesting that migration to Australia should be unlimited".
Perhaps that could be altered slightly to say 'no-one sensible', because during this federal election campaign Greens Leader Bob Brown has evaded the question and has refused to even concede that immigration should in fact be limited at all; a ‘let them all in’ approach.
This serves to again highlight exactly where the Greens should sit within the national political landscape.
They might throw up the occasional good idea, but if they were running the country we would go flat broke in no time flat. Many of their policies are pie-in-the-sky stuff, giving no consideration to financial fallout.
Some might say the Labor Party’s recent preferences deal with The Greens - effectively handing Bob Brown’s team the balance of power should Labor retain government – is giving the Greens too much of a say. However, be thankful one of the ‘sensible’ parties will be in power on August 22, not The Greens.
